Natural and synthetic benzofuran derivatives display potent biological activities, such as antioxidant, antiparasitic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anticancer activities.13–17 In addition, 3-benzoylbenzofuran derivatives have been identified as anti-estrogen breast cancer agents,18 as shown in Scheme 1.
