Heavy metals fractionation and desorption in pine bark amended mine soils
2017, Journal of Environmental ManagementCitation Excerpt :This sequence is in accordance with the affinity of soils for different heavy metals (McBride, 1989), and with adsorption data found in other mine soils. In a three metal competitive experiment, Asensio et al. (2016) found that Pb adsorption in mine soils was higher than for Ni and Zn, whereas the difference among Ni and Zn was scarce. In a mine soil similar to that here studied (sampled in the same area), Ramírez-Pérez et al. (2013) found that Cu adsorption was much higher than for Cd, Ni and Zn, whereas the sequences for these last elements were not clear, depending on the concentrations added.
Heavy metals in Iberian soils: Removal by current adsorbents/amendments and prospective for aerogels
2016, Advances in Colloid and Interface ScienceCitation Excerpt :Increasing application of soil amendment onto mine tailing increased the soil's pH, adsorption capacity and decreased the extractable fraction of the metals. Asensio et al. [104] used both paper mill residues (sludges and ashes) and an anaerobic digested municipal, sewage sludge to amend mine tailing. The properties of the amended soil were compared to the ones where the same mine tailing had been vegetated long ago.
